The multidisciplinary concept to cardiovascular diseases, the Heart Team, has gained interest in light of the emergence of many challenges in treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease. However, the concept of Heart Team has been mainly applied for decision-making for patients for whom multiple procedural options are available, for compliance purposes and unfortunately as perfunctory checkbox.

To reinforce the concept of Heart Team there is a need for a new organization that will have the objective to promote collaboration across disciplines for enhancing the quality of care for our patients.

Heart Team Academy

Objectives of this academy are as follows:

  • To promote, advertise and disseminate the concept of dedicated multidisciplinary Heart Team for treatment of patients with common pathologies.
  • To promote, advertise and disseminate the concept of dedicated multidisciplinary Heart Team for life-time management and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease.
  • To promote the establishment, education, and training of pathology-based dedicated multidisciplinary Heart Teams.
  • To promote research, innovation, and clinical practice guidelines regarding the multidisciplinary Heart Team approach.
  • To establish a simulation-based academy for cardiovascular interventions for dedicated multidisciplinary Heart Team.
  • To promote research and innovation on the concept of smart interventions by establishing a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary network of physicians, healthcare engineers, mathematicians, and other professionals.
  • To promote research and innovation on digital health care whether for pre-habilitation, rehabilitation, virtual modalities for training or patient information.

The academy is built on 4 pillars:
