Maastricht Mitral Masters

“Heart Team Colloquium on Atrioventricular Valve Disease”

Dear Colleague, I am delighted to announce that the “Maastricht Mitral Master: Heart Team Colloquium on Atrioventricular Disease” will be held in Maastricht from September 2 to September 4, 2024. This program is designed with three main objectives for treating atrioventricular disease through a heart team approach and lifetime management:
    • acquiring the necessary knowledge,
    • developing the competence to apply this knowledge, and
    • mastering the skills required for surgical or transcatheter interventions.
Presentations by the heart team will cover theoretical knowledge and evidence-based practices; meanwhile, a live heart team will demonstrate the application of this knowledge in addressing clinical problems. Additionally, live cases will showcase the most advanced surgical and transcatheter interventions. We will be utilizing advanced technologies and the latest simulation-based training tools throughout this masterclass to facilitate the learning of new skills, grounded in the latest educational science. We eagerly look forward to welcoming you to this multidisciplinary event in Maastricht.

Sincerely,

Peyman Sardari Nia, MD, PhD Program Director

Learning Objectives
The program is constructed arounds three themes for atrioventricular disease based on heart team approach and life-time management:
Knowledge | This course will focus on the theoretical understanding related to atrioventricular disease based on latest research, from understanding the pathophysiology, diagnosis, work-up to current and emerging treatments.
Competence | This will subsequently focus on application of theoretical knowledge based on current guidelines and expert opinions in real-world scenarios in heart team approach and with focus on life-time management. It encompasses clinical decision-making, problem-solving, and the application of best practices in patient care.
Skills | This course will give the member of heart team the possibility to gain skills needed for heart team members in transcatheter and surgical procedures through structured simulation-based training.
